Dogs For Good
Wolstonbury Kennels partner with Dogs for Good by providing them with Kennel Club certified Labrador Retriever Puppies.
Dogs for Good is a life-transforming charity. Their assistance dogs support adults and children with a range of disabilities. They also help children with autism. Our Wolstonbury dogs provide a very important role. From helping a person with disabilities become more independent to aiding a child with autism who may feel socially isolated.
Our puppies are carefully chosen. They go through a thorough socialisation programme to help them become well adjusted in adult life.
At around 14 months old they go into the National Training Centre to start their formal training.
The trainers work with each dog to find out what they enjoy. They build confidence and teach practical skills using reward based methods of training.
By the time they leave the centre, our dogs go on to transform lives.

Tell me more about the BARF diet?
BARF stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food or Bones and Raw Food. This diet is about returning your dog to their evolutionary diet.
Your dog’s health is directly linked to their diet. We have had boarders that stay with us with mild skin allergies and a quick change of diet to BARF has fixed this. Dramatic results occur very quickly and lead to a happier, healthier pet. Switching to a BARF diet can also help pet allergies, problems with teeth & gums, skin and coat problems and degenerative disease.
A BARF diet for a dog is one consisting of raw whole foods, similar to those eaten by the dogs’ wild ancestors. The food must contain such things as muscle meat, bone, fat, organ meats, vegetable and fruit materials combined in precisely the correct balance.
Here are just some of the rapid and lasting benefits of the BARF diet:
- Tarter build up on the teeth is eliminated, breath is improved and your dog will have strong, beautiful teeth
- Itchy skin conditions associated with allergies will be alleviated and you can expect a shiny and lustrous coat
- Chronic diarrhea often disappears and stool volume and odour is significantly reduced
- Your dog’s weight will be brought into line and it’s easy to maintain a leaner, fit body
- The immune system is strengthened and you will begin to see increased mobility in arthritic pets.
